Greg Hartman has worked as an illustrator and muralist for the past eighteen years, enjoying a wide range of projects. The PAINTED PERCEPTION - GREG HARTMAN ILLUSTRATION gallery includes editorial work, childrens book art, political and spiritual illustrations. The MURALS by GREG HARTMAN gallery is residential and commercial murals both in the Northwest U.S. and International.
Greg was born in Seattle and spent his early childhood among the vibrant desert colors of Arizona and the muted tones of the Northwest in Oregon. He returned to Seattle to attend a Visual Communications program.
While traveling after graduation he was exposed to many different cultures and their perspectives. These observations of the human commonality led to visual expressions of a spiritual nature and social commentary of the human condition.
His work includes murals in several countries (some you can see here), editorial illustration, package design and gallery showings. Vibrant colors, attention to detail and an understanding of traditional methods are hallmarks of Greg's creations.
Currently Greg uses mixed media and acrylic paints to express his concepts and commentary. Ultimately Greg hopes his work will inspire thought that will lead to inner reflection and conscious outward action.
He has been inspired by a wide range of artists and teachers including everything from the traditional works of Dutch masters, contemporary surrealists, Joseph Campbell and Buddhist wisdom.
